Below is a note I put out to clients this past week–a great exercise:
As many of you know, I send out a personal email from time to time throughout the year. I send this email to those individuals who I have coached, trained or worked with in some capacity over the last 13 years. Yesterday (Nov. 1st) marked what I call the “final stretch” of the year. Studies have shown that this time of year starts to create a slight panic in people as they see the turn of the calendar into November as the holiday season arriving and also a reminder that they are NOT where they want to be in their lives. It’s a sad reality in the US that NOV and DEC sees the highest levels of depression, suicide and crime rates compared to other months. Here is the good news!
We all have the ability to make decisions in our lives and if you ever find yourself not completely fulfilled in some area of your life, change it ASAP. We all know the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. One thing I recommend this time of year is to steal away some private time, even for a couple hours, and get your journal out and write down the answers to the following questions:
- What have I accomplished this year that is positive?
- Who have I impacted in a positive way this year?
- What am I most proud of in my life right now?
- What can I finally commit to going into 2011 (something I have been avoiding or putting off this year)?
- List at least 5 people (family, co-workers or friends) I can personally call this week to tell them how grateful I am to have them in my life?
Here is what I know! Less that 20% of you will actually take the time to do this exercise and you are the ones I always call the “1 percenters in life.” You are always willing and committed to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to better yourself and most importantly better those around you. Some of you may be “hitting it out of the park” this year and this email may not apply to you. If that’s the case, simply forward this to someone else that might benefit from this powerful exercise. I, myself, do this every year in NOV and it fills my gratitude tank beyond measure.
As most of you know, the end of the year is my busiest time of year as a coach because it’s the time of year when professionals are looking to make changes to reach that coveted “next level” in their business and in life. I do have a few spots opening up on my coaching team this month if you or someone you know is interested in taking things to that next level, simply email me back and we can arrange my free diagnostic call together. Thanks so much for allowing me to share with all of you.
To the next level!
